Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Chrysanne

We are delighted to spotlight Chrysanne, our Volunteer of the Month. Chrysanne joined our Denver branch in mid-November 2024, bringing her compassionate spirit and dedication. Her journey into volunteering is deeply personal, driven by a desire to support individuals and families during vulnerable times.

Chrysanne's favorite aspect of volunteering is the warmth she feels when welcomed into a patient's home. She treasures the time spent offering companionship and giving their significant other a much-needed break.

Motivated by witnessing the deaths of family members, Chrysanne became a certified death doula. She helps clients craft end-of-life plans, ensuring their wishes are documented and ready for loved ones to fulfill. This work allows individuals to live fully, knowing their final days will be handled according to their desires.

Through volunteering, Chrysanne has learned to embrace the storytelling of dementia patients, following along and asking questions to connect with them deeply. She advises those interested in volunteering to explore the field, follow hospice nurses online, and learn about the stages of death.

Outside of her volunteering work, Chrysanne loves all things Brazilian, speaks Portuguese fluently, and considers Brazil her second home.
