VOLUNTEER HIGHLIGHT
Meet Dolores, a dedicated volunteer at Canyon Home Care & Hospice’s Bullhead City branch. Since joining us in September 2024, Dolores has been bringing warmth and kindness to those in need, offering companionship and encouragement to our patients. For her, the most rewarding part of volunteering is bringing a smile to someone’s face and encouraging them to share their stories—whether about their family or their life experiences.
Volunteering has always been close to Dolores’ heart. She has long felt called to visit the homebound and bring happiness into their day. When she retired, she knew she wanted to do something meaningful—something that could bring hope to those facing dark times. She strongly believes that loneliness is one of the biggest causes of depression, and she wanted to help change that. Through her time as a volunteer, she has learned a valuable lesson: “You only have today. Make it a good one—filled with love, joy, and peace.”
Dolores encourages anyone interested in volunteering to be patient and to approach each visit with an open heart, free of expectations. Her best advice is simply to give and be present. When she’s not volunteering, Dolores describes herself as both an observer and a thinker—sometimes quiet, yet other times, she can’t stop talking!
We are so grateful for Dolores and the kindness she brings to our patients and families. Thank you for making a difference!
